You have chosen to help an international student meet the U.S. legal requirement to show proof of funds sufficient to provide for his or her needs while residing in the U. S. Thank you. For many students, this is their only option to securing an education in the United States.
How Do I Become A Sponsor?
fill out the Affidavit of Support Form
Show proof of financial resources to cover the student’s expenses for the student’s first year of study as required by USCIS. Funding must also be available from the same source for each subsequent year indicated on the Affidavit.
the Affidavit of Support
Your signature is your sworn promise that you will financially support the international student while he or she is in the United States. Failure to provide the student financial assistance does not shift the burden to the College, and a student whose sponsor defaults will be required to return home due to lack of funds.
Can A Student Have More Than One Sponsor?
Yes. Each sponsor must fill out the Affidavit of Support Form and submit all required documents to show proof of finances.
What Are My Obligations As A Sponsor?
- Submit the completed Affidavit of Support Form and indicate the amount of money (U.S. dollars) you will be contributing. Indicate the type of support (room and board, monetary, other).
- Provide financial proof sufficient to cover the amount you are contributing (certified bank statements reflecting liquid funds).
- After the student’s acceptance, deposit an amount equal to three semesters of tuition at LDS Business College with the Cashier’s Office. This deposit is due before the I-20 can be issued, and no later than two weeks prior to the beginning of the student’s first semester.
The deposit will be put into an account under the student’s name and held for him/her until he/she arrives at school. The money can be used for tuition and student insurance.
What Are The Annual Costs For An International Student’s Education?
||$3,100||Books and Supplies||$1,500|
Married students must provide evidence of an additional $2,000 for their spouse and $2,000 for each child included as an F-2 dependent in the U.S.
Can The International Student Work While Attending College?
International students may only work on campus and only up to 19 hours per week while school is in session. They may work on campus up to full time during their annual break (generally the summer).
Are Scholarships Available?
International students are eligible to apply for LDSBC academic scholarships after completing 28 credits at a post-secondary institution, 12 of which must be from LDS Business College. Follow this link for information on all LDS Business College scholarships. Note that College scholarships cover tuition only and do not include books, supplies or living expenses.
